I decided to make a marathon budget saving trip around all the shops in my area this morning. I only had 2 kids since my oldest daughter was on a trip. So, I had all my coupons ready to go, in envelopes, breakfast packed, happy kids who were laughing and truly enjoying themselves and I was ready to go!
First stop CVS – now I never shop on Tuesdays, so this was a first. I managed to find one thing in stock. But I did find some consolations prizes – tons of stuff on clearance for 75%-85% off. I will post pictures later. So feeling better about my finds, I continued on with my still happy children in tow.
Next stop – Rite Aid. I got the first item, when my 2 year old starts screaming about needing to go to the bathroom. So, we go stand in the bathroom for 25 minutes, while I wait patiently. My newborn decided to nurse anyway while we were in there, so no problem, she needed time to feed anyway. I left the bathroom FINALLY and the store had everything on my list and the manager rang me up and was so nice. He commented how he remembered me because I always got the free stuff. He was paying attention to my orders and going to try them himself.
Next stop – Walgreens – I got in there and realized that I had all of my coupons very organized for last week’s finds. Not to be discouraged, I decided to skip Walgreens and leave with my slightly happy children who were no longer laughing.
Stop number 4 – Lowe’s Foods – Here my 2 year old has a melt down as her apple tumbles into oblivion under the shelving. If you were at that store you would see me on the ground hunting for an apple so that it won’t be left to rot as my 2 year old is screaming at the top of her lungs like something is seriously wrong other than. . . MY APPLE! MY APPLE! But, I promise her cheerios in the car (food works with her, not sure if this is good or bad parenting but it works). I find everything at Lowe’s in about 10 minutes, I am the only one in line and out the door in no time. I even remembered my reusable bag this trip, so I am feeling quite pleased with myself.
Stop 5 – Why don’t I try another CVS since the last one only had one item I need? This was my first mistake of the day. . . So I drag out the double stroller for the 5th time this morning. (I do actually love having a double stroller or going out would be impossible.) I go hunting for my items I want in the store. I find the therma wraps – YAY! there are 4 left. I can’t wait to grab my two. I love these things when I am sore. My daughter asks me to replace her clip, I turn around to replace it and when I turn back around, I am rudely shoved to the side by a husband and wife who BOTH get 2 of the thermawraps – leaving none for me. They discuss, in front of me, how they both have separate cards and have lied about their address so that they can get the extra care bucks deals twice. WOW, not ethical at all and not really putting me in the best of all moods. BUT, I went and picked up my soy joy bars and still made money so the stop was a success in my books.
Stop 6 – Why do I decide for stop 6? My daughter LOVES Walmart, has a Arby’s RoastBeef sandwich in hand and eats slowly, so I know I have at least 30 minutes of happiness to shop. I bought tons of stuff and got prices written down for my post here.
Stop 7 – HOME; so glad to be back!! And, even better, I didn’t have to pull out the double stroller. (-: Just had to unload all my bags.
So, I was halfway successful but I think that I will be sticking to Thursday and Friday trips to the store when the stores have restocked. I thought I would post this for people who think shopping is always easy for me. (-: That was my budget saving trip.

Ahhh…it's so good to know that Budget Saving Mom is HUMAN too! And yes, I have totally been there with the apple, or whatever other food item rolling all over creation as you dive and leap frog your way down the aisle in general making a fool out of yourself in an attempt to rescue the uneatable item anyway, only to then explain to the 2 year old why even though you have found it – they cannot EAT it :). Made me laugh!
