How To Grow Cucumbers
Cucumbers should be planted after the danger of frost is past. This is after April 30th in our area. You can start the seeds inside first, and then transplant them, or plant your seeds directly into the soil. If you start them inside, you can start them 3-4 weeks before the last frost.
We allow our cucumbers to grow up a trellis. You can pick the cucumbers when they are small or large. I love to use little cucumbers for pickles. However, the larger cucumbers are great too, you just slice them up. If you are trying to limit the vine growth on your plant you can just look for the little curly cues on the vines and pinch them off. Then the plant will be concentrating all it’s energy on growing your cucumbers rather than just growing vines. We often just let ours grow though and get plenty of cucumbers still.
