As you guys can probably tell, since I am posting again . . . things are settling down around here. Today actually went so smoothly. It was incredible. We went and bought a new appliance this morning and it was installed by noon. My dad and brother-in-law came over and helped my hubby dam up the areas where the water was flowing in which really reduced our losses.
The person that had built our retaining wall already has started fixing it. He did a great job before, and I would actually highly recommend him. His group worked so hard, were very fair, and did great work! Last night was just crazy weather, and the retaining wall wasn’t the only damage we sustained.
We had someone come over this afternoon to look at the damaged roof and the fixes that need to be made to the driveway. So everything seems to be getting fixed smoothly.
Thank God for an emergency fund.
I would really encourage all of you to have an emergency fund of at least 6 months in the bank. This has bailed us out so many times. It is great to not have to go into debt every time there is an emergency. You can start small. Even $1,000 in the bank can be helpful. Not having debt and having an emergency fund is really important to us, and just gives us a sense of peace. By choosing to not always buy everything as soon as we want it, but waiting, praying and thinking about purchases is so much better than buying and getting into debt! Hopefully we will be able to pay off our house as well in the next few years and have no debt. That is my hope anyways. (-:
