I have been trying to ignore the fact that I am still pregnant all weekend, so we filled up our weekend with lots of fun free & almost free activities for our family. Plus, my hubby was off which made the weekend even better! I will admit that we ate out a couple of times as well this weekend, so that part wasn’t free . . . but we made up for it with the rest of our weekend. (-: We had the best time as a family.
On Saturday morning, we went to Golden Corral for breakfast. 2 of our kids eat free, so this really was a pretty affordable place to go, and I really wanted plates of fruit. My hubby seems more than willing to put up with my cravings right now. (-: Something about being pregnant longer than we thought I would be in August.
After Golden Corral we went to Dick’s Sporting Goods to walk around. (I was thinking walking might bring baby sooner, but no such luck.) We had a lot of fun there though. My kids loved playing with all of the balls downstairs and walking around the track. Then, we went upstairs. My hubby wanted to look at golf clubs, and they had a putting green up there. So, the kids got to play putt putt with $200 golf clubs for free. I thought that was pretty neat. Downstairs, the Chick fil A cow was there and Wake Forest people. My kids got to play a game with the Chick Fil A cow, so we got coupons for 2 free ice creams, plus the cow gave our 3 year old a coupon for a free chicken sandwich. We actually didn’t buy anything there, and ended up with free food, so it was pretty neat!
Then, we went to Pets Smart. This is always a fun place to go on the weekends because they always have animals there on the weekend to look at. We looked at the fish, dogs, cats, birds, etc. My little ones were so cute looking at the animals in amazement. It is so neat to look at their little faces and how excited they get.
Next, we went to Sam’s Club to get our free tire rotation. While we were there, there were over 20 different stations with food samples. It was lunchtime, so we actually ate the samples for lunch. We had raspberries, apples, cheese, salmon and lots of other things. We didn’t need that much for lunch anyway after such a big breakfast.
After naptime, we took a picnic supper to the lake and playground once it had cooled down some. We had the best time looking at the ducks, eating outside and playing on the playground. I couldn’t believe how independent my three year old daughter has become on the playground.
It reminded me of just how much fun you can have for free especially when you are with the people that you love the most. Did you guys do anything fun this weekend with your family?

My husband has been working 7-days a week for most of the summer, so he hasn’t been able to partake in many family outings. But every month the Flint Children’s Museum has a dollar day and last Thursday, the 26th was the dollar day for August. This museum isn’t too far from our house so, we don’t spend too much on gas either. This museum is a “hands on” museum especially for kids! They even had an outside area set up with an actual garden the kids got to explore. They had a Sunflower house, a bean pole teepee and even a pizza garden among other plants. There was even a “bug” guy there to show them all sorts of bugs! I’m very glad that they didn’t want to bring any home :)
We took a break for lunch, which we brought ourselves and then headed back to play some more before heading home. They had so much fun playing in their kind of museum and momma loves it because I can get in for only $1.00 each once a month!
That does sound like a lot of fun. My youngest 2 love looking at bugs. They would love that! How fun. (-:
