I am continuing my discussion of different curriculum and books that we have used and LOVED! Not liked, but loved! There are so many homeschool curriculums to choose from that it can take time to weed through and find ones that are great. So . . . for those of you looking for economics homeschool curriculum . . . here is my pick!
Whatever Happened To Penny Candy Review:
For ecnomics this year, my daughter used a great book, Whatever Happened To Penny Candy?
It is a fun book that does an amazing job explaining economics. It is entertaining to read, but very informative at the same time.
I have degrees in Education, Science and Nursing and pretty much always made A’s throughout school. I never really understood economics until I read this book, and I actually had fun learning about it.
My daughter knows about money supply, inflation, Gresham’s law, supply and demand, debasing money and more.
We used Bluestocking Guide as well with the book. This guide contained further activities that she could complete after reading each chapter of Whatever Happened To Penny Candy? These activities are broken up by age, so I actually think I will be having her read the book again in high school so that she can do the higher level activities.
The true historical stories that are given help to make the book even more interesting as well as cement the information they are learning. They are able to turn around and apply this to their lives today and events around them.
