She really enjoyed playing the games on the computer, and she seemed to learn quite a bit from it. The first time that she logged in, she actually played for an entire three hours while the other kids slept.

I personally thought the games were excellent! When she would miss something, it would ask her the question again. Then if she continued to miss the question, it would have the correct answer beside the incorrect answer so that she could see what she needed to correct.

Once she had finished her spelling lesson, an e-mail was automatically sent to me showing what her score was as well as information about what areas she needed help on. I loved this feature!! Lack of feedback as to how the student is doing is always my biggest frustration when I am allowing them to use a computer to learn. I want to know how they are doing, and be able to help them further. These reports allowed me to do that. There are also cumulative reports to show how the student is progressing over time.

I really can not say how much I love this! I wish that every single program we used had this feature!

My daughter is only four years old, and the target age for this program starts at 5. However, she was able to use the game without any difficulties. I had her sit next to me when she was using the program so that I could see what it was like, but she was able to navigate it by herself.

ClickN Kids Spell

The next game that we tried was the ClickN Kids Spell. This game is designed for kids ages 4-11. It retails for $49.95. This game was easy for her to play, and she really enjoyed it. I liked that she was learning so much while she was playing. Spelling is not usually a fun subject to learn, but it was with this game! As I mentioned earlier, I LOVED the reports that were e-mailed to me! I did not even have to log in to find them. I wish every educational game did this!

Looney Tunes ClickN Read Phonics

The third program that we reviewed was Looney Tunes ClickN Read Phonics. This game costs $9.95 a month, and is for children from about ages 5-9. It was also quite easy to set up. I really liked the fact that I could adjust how long pauses were, whether or not to allow read backs and more. There are many options for the teacher or parent to choose from that can adjust how your child is learning. There are fun animations, and lots of encouraging feedback.

Once again, she was able to use the program by herself. The game has students find keys on the keyboard that make the sounds, so it starts teaching typing as well. The game allows her to choose an avatar, so she chose to be Tweety. This program is set up lick ClickN READ Phonics, but it has the Looney Tunes characters as well.
