Baby Jesus Sock Craft

baby Jesus Christmas craft

Since the real meaning of Christmas is Jesus, I have really been wanting to make a baby Jesus craft. Since we have a ridiculous number of mismatched socks, I started thinking about how to use them, and I really love the baby Jesus in a manger that we came up with. The kids have had so much fun with this!! They were able to help stuff it, and it was really quick and easy to make.

All that you need to make it is:

  • 3 socks – one pink, one yellow or white and one black or brown
  • stuffing
  • rubber bands (I just used my girl’s rubber bands to make it.)
  • markers
We made baby Jesus out of a pink sock since babies are pink when they are first born. We just stuffed a pink sock. Then, we used a rubberband to make his head and 2 arms.
Next, we made the manger out of a black sock that we stuffed. I would have used brown since it would look more woodlike if I had a brown sock. We folded the top of the sock over and held that into place with a rubberband. We also placed baby Jesus under that rubber band to hold him onto the manger.
Then, we used a yellow sock to wrap baby Jesus in swaddling cloths.

My daughter’s have been playing with baby Jesus ever since. It is really sweet! I hope to figure out a way to make the whole nativity set before Christmas.

I agree, keeping the real meaning in Christmas is so important and such a fun project to do with kids that can reinforce that meaning. Thanks for sharing this on BeColorful’s Motivated Monday.
