Also, a special treat for a holiday weekend. Proctor and Gamble is planning on having coupons in this Sunday’s paper! We usually never get coupons on a holiday weekend so this is an added bonus. I don’t know if they will be in everyone’s paper, but keep a look out for it this weekend to snag some budget saving coupons.
What If My Coupon Doesn’t Ring Up Right?

What if my coupons don’t ring up right? I have been asked this question by numerous readers, so I thought I would post an answer for everyone.
I have had this happen to me several times. Sometimes, I have even forgotten to give the cashier my coupons if my children are distracting me as I am checking out. Other times, I have paid and the cashier has pointed out that she forgot a coupon. In these cases, it is easy to walk up to the customer service desk and get cash back for those coupons.
Once I get in the car, I check my receipt. I know how many coupons I have given the cashier, and I count the number on the receipt to make sure that they have all been scanned. If I see a discrepancy, I go back in the store and get a refund from the customer service desk. They usually pay me cash and I might feel silly up there getting my $1.35 back, but those $1.35 add up.
When I was at Harris Teeter this week, I had 2 coupons for free items. I got out to the car and realized that the cashier had not taken off the total amount of one of the items, so I went back in and got $3.70 back from the customer service desk.
If you have my list printed out, you know the value of the coupons and can double check to make sure that the correct amount gets taken off, and the sooner you check, the more likely you are to get a refund.
Some of my readers have not realized that all of the coupons were not taken off until they got home. One person called the store, and they told her to come back and they would refund the amount of the coupons just based on her word. I don’t know that all stores would be that generous, but it worked for her. Also, if you have an idea of what your total should be after coupons, it can help to catch these mistakes in the store.
I have actually never had a problem getting a refund for the coupons that were not taken off correctly. So, don’t get frustrated if you forgot to give the coupon or it did not ring up correctly, you can still get your money back by explaining the situation to the customer service manager.
I hope that this helps to answer some of your questions. If any of you have any stories or tips of things that have helped you, let us know by leaving a comment.
